Throughout the season, he showcased his prowess by scoring 85 runs and taking 7 wickets.

Debuting in 2016, Vasundan Sundar made his mark by claiming 11 wickets in his debut matches. His T20 debut followed in May 2017, and later that year, he earned a spot in the Rising Pune Supergiant for the IPL. His impactful performance against Mumbai Indians and Pune Supergiant in 2017 demonstrated his all-round skills, securing victories and showcasing his ability to contribute both with the bat and the ball.

In the IPL 2017 final, he crafted his maiden century, leaving an indelible mark with his exceptional bowling performance. His brilliance continued in the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2017, where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker, marking a significant milestone in his nascent career.

On December 13, 2017, the dynamic all-rounder Kedar Jadhav called upon Vasundan Sundar to join the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. In a memorable match, he claimed his first international wicket, dismissing Lahiru Thirimanne with a splendid delivery.
